Moral lesson observation

Observation 1 (Moral lesson) 

On the 13th day of April 2023, I conducted an observation in one of my associate teacher’s moral lessons. The observation took place at the Year 7 level. The main purpose of this observation is to explore some of the teaching and learning strategies that would be able to assist me or enhance my teaching in the way that would effective and meaningful to students. In this reflection, I would directly reflect and discuss on the strengths and weaknesses of this delivery, including some remedies that would be effective to overcome these weaknesses. 

During the observation, I could manage to figure out some strengths of this delivery. At the start of the lesson, the teacher tried to recall students’ previous learning in a game form. At this case, students are engaged in the learning and pay a full attention to the teaching and learning process. The teacher also used effective and colorful resources that probably attract students’ interest in the learning. In addition, the teacher also used some body gestures while explaining the note to students. These movements of her hands and facial reactions made the learning more interesting and meaningful to students. In this case, students were concentrated and got deep in the learning. 

However, there is one weakness of this delivery that I could found during this observation. Although the learning was interesting to students, but I would like to add on to the given activities in order to make it more effective and interesting as well. I would like to recommend using more effective strategies at marking students’ works, like using a rubric for instance. She could display the rubric to allow students to mark on their own and that would be more interesting to them. 

To conclude, the lesson has good strengths which could probably maintain the quality of teaching. This encourages students to love education as its interesting to their learning. However, the weakness of this lesson can be considered as a minor issue, that could have enhanced or improved in the best way for students. Overall, the lesson was fun and wonderful to students, and this would probably be beneficial to students in the classroom.
