Inclusive Education and the Learning Outcomes
Inclusive Education had been one of the most important vision in every educational matter that could improve and achieve the teaching and learning process. In this discussion, it is very important to know that promoting inclusive education in the teaching and learning process could result in a successful outcome and beneficial to students, but specifically, this discussion will be base on how to improve the learning outcome through inclusive classroom.
Firstly,
it is important to fully understand the meaning of inclusive classroom and the
learning outcome. An inclusive classroom climate refers to an environment where
all students feel supported intellectually and academically and are extended a
sense of belonging in the classroom regardless of identity, learning
preferences, or education. Such environments are sustained when teachers and
students work together for thoughtfulness, respect, and academic excellence,
and are key to encouraging the academic success of all students. Many
researchers dominantly indicates that many students may be more likely to
prosper academically in settings with more collaborative modes of learning that
acknowledge students’ personal experiences.
Valamis
(2020) says that the Learning outcome is measurable achievements that the
learner will be able to understand after the learning is complete, which helps
learners understand the importance of the information and what they will gain
from their engagement with the learning activity.
Secondly,
how to promote inclusion classroom in order to improve the learning outcomes.
To promote inclusion classroom, it is important to make it personal where you
provide opportunities for students to share their own experiences and
perspectives. In addition, you could include various perspectives in providing
a variety of perspectives on the topics you teach. It is also important to understand
your students to the best of your ability and try to develop ideas that can
involve all of your students, especially those who may bring a unique
perspective. Furthermore, use inclusive based approach that could accommodate
students’ unique needs for instance using strength-based approach in
accommodating a student to develop their strengths and see that student with
special needs have strengths too. Focus on progress, no matter how small.
Thirdly,
the learning outcome could not be improved by some of the gender norms of the
instructor or a teacher. One of this normality is stereotyping. Some teachers
find it difficult to teach when there are aggressive students among the
students, so the teacher could provide activities differently to them in order
to make the teaching easier for him/her and sometimes teachers ignore
aggressive students. This type of strategy in teaching is not helpful in
improving the learning outcomes to students for some of the students could
achieve the learning and some are not.
In these situations of promoting inclusion classroom, it could promote in improving the learning outcome because if you didn’t see students differently in your classroom or learning environment and cater to their different unique needs, students are supposed to achieve the learning outcomes of the topic at the end of the lesson. For example, if you cater to students’ needs excluding aggressive students and disabilities students, only students you cater for their needs supposed to achieve the learning outcomes except those aggressive and disabilities students. In addition, it is very important to make your learning outcomes inclusive where the learning could accommodate diverse students’ needs in the learning environments, and that could helpful more in improving the learning outcome.
In my
experience in real situation, there is a common habit that teachers always do
in their teaching strategy, which is ignoring aggressive students. In this
situation, they ignore aggressive students in the learning process for they
could affect other students learning. I was sure that teachers do know this
strategy that it is not inclusive, but they want to do it for not getting them
tired of these students. And this is not a good practice for being a teacher
and also doesn’t promote in improving the learning outcome.
To
conclude, it is clearly portrayed that promoting inclusion classroom could
definitely improve the learning outcome. And it is also emphasized that the
learning outcomes could not be improved without an inclusion classroom. So, it
is important, and it is a must to practice promoting inclusion environment in
the learning process in order to make students achieved the learning outcomes.
In addition, it is recommended that it is important that you understand your
students to the best of your ability and respect their talents in order to
provide activities that could cater and accommodate their needs to develop
their strengths. Overall, it is convinced that having an inclusion classroom as
a learning environment could definitely improve the learning outcomes by the
achievement of students intellectually and academically to the learning
outcomes.
