Ethical Behaviors and Personal Values

On the 16th day of June 2021, I had another teaching practicum at a primary level in the Year 3. I reached a primary campus at 7:45am with a lesson plan and required resources to be approved by the principal, then the school starts at 8:30am. There are 26 students in the Year 3 classroom and they all arrived on time. However, in my journal I will basically discuss on one of the contents of the NTSS, which is Ethical Behaviors and Personal Values. The first thing I did, I tried to take the attention of students to engage in the lesson to make sure students focus on the outcomes of the learning. During the learning, I found that there are some struggling learners in the learning environment, however, I did not left them behind but to assist them in their learning. In addition, I walked around to facilitate the learning to gave them a chance for them to ask assistance if they need to. While assisting students, I tried to use different effective teaching strategies for them till they...

Literacy and Numeracy Focus

Literacy and numeracy are the most crucial skills to a person’s ability to develop fully and fit into society. These two areas of learning cover vital factors that are linked in understanding the society through expressing, analyzing and problem solving. Children and young people need increasingly sophisticated levels of language and mathematics in order to take care of their health and wellbeing, participate in the workforce and make a positive contribution to the society. Mathematics supports us to analyze and reason about the nature of the world while language enables us to communicate effectively, which is vital to feeling connected to the people around us ("Why literacy and numeracy?", 2017). Providing problem solving activities in reading, writing, listening, speaking and numerating problems could enable students’ competencies in literacy and numeracy focus. Integrating literacy and numeracy in the learning process may need certain activities that could cover both area...

Observation 2 (English lesson) On the 12th day of April 2023, I did observe my English Associate teacher in delivering an English lesson. The focus of this observation is to observe and explore teaching and learning strategies which might assist or enhance my teaching experience in the future. In addition, I will also mention some approaches which I learned during this English lesson.  I found that there some strengths of this delivery that really helps for future plan of delivering. During the teaching and learning process, the teacher starts with a game – a game that really attracts and captive to students’ attention. Right afterward, students were engaged in the learning and positively interacted to each other. In addition, the teacher also used effective and attractive resources. Students were happily engaged ...

Moral lesson observation

Observation 1 (Moral lesson)  On the 13th day of April 2023, I conducted an observation in one of my associate teacher’s moral lessons. The observation took place at the Year 7 level. The main purpose of this observation is to explore some of the teaching and learning strategies that would be able to assist me or enhance my teaching in the way that would effective and meaningful to students. In this reflection, I would directly reflect and discuss on the strengths and weaknesses of this delivery, including some remedies that would be effective to overcome these weaknesses.  During the observation, I could manage to figure out some strengths of this delivery. At the start of the lesson, the teacher tried to recall students’ previous learning in a game form. At this case, students are engaged in the learning and pay a full attention to the teaching and learning process. The teacher also used effective and colorful resources that probably attract students’ interest in th...

2nd week Block-teaching (S123)

Reflection writing for the 2 nd week block-teaching (Week 10) In this week, I feel that teaching was getting easier than last week. This result from being more familiar with students and subjects. And this time, I could manage to take a good control of the whole class even some students are hyperactive. On Monday, I refer back to the old lesson for Friday last week to be delivered on this day. Students were seemed to really enjoy the learning. Sometimes students want more activities to practice what they learned, so this make me to create more activities for them beside what I had been provided. Firstly, regarding the ability of students to the learning outcome. There are 5 students seemed to be slow learners. Sometimes these students achieved the learning outcome and sometimes they did not. I found that these students have the ability to achieve the learning outcomes but they need be comforted in some situation. So, I tried some teaching strategies in the learning process b...
